Summary of Expectations

Important Dates:

Weekly classes: Tuesday evenings, 7:00-8:00 pm beginning October 1

Exceptions--No classes on the following dates:

    

October 22, 2002

November 12, 2002

December 24 & 31, 2002

February 18, 2003

April 15 & 22, 2003

 

Last class:  May 27, 2003

Thursday, May 29, 2003:    7:00 pm    Ascension Day, worship in courtyard, weather permitting.

Sunday, October 26, 2003:  11:15 am   Confirmation for second year class.

Sunday, October 31, 2004:  11:15 am   Confirmation for first year class.

 

Supplies Needed (each week):

  1. Three ring notebook (with pockets) to keep class materials in.
  2. Pen or pencil.
  3. NRSV Student Bible.  The church will provide these.  We ask that parents pay for them as part of their baptismal promise to their students. The cost of the Bible is $20.00.  Please give this as cash or check made out to St. Andrew’s.

 

Class Requirements Summary:

  1. Regular attendance at Tuesday classes. Call in advance if you will miss class (483-8650).  Leave a message if you don’t get a person.
  2. Regular attendance at Sunday worship, (and participation when scheduled as acolyte, musician, etc.).
  3. 20 Weekly worship reports.
  4. Participation in any 2 of the following activities:
    • Altar guild set-up/clean-up; (see schedule in Calling).
    • Attendance at annual congregational meeting (last Sunday in January) or any special congregational meeting that might be called.
    • Attendance at a Committee meeting (Worship, Christian Education, Property, Fellowship, etc.) or a Congregational Council meeting (generally third Monday of the month at 7:45 pm in the Social Hall).
  5. Participation in Class service activities.
    • October 5, 2002 (Saturday) Fall Clean-up, 9:00 am- 12:00 pm
    • January 5, 2003 (Sunday) Worship at Holly Patterson Nursing Home, 2:00-4:00 pm.
    • Spring activity to be sheduled.
  6. 8 reports on articles from The Lutheran magazine.
  7. Development of a peace/justice issue.  Details will be explained in class.
